APRES-SKI IN BANFF

We work to ensure that every SnowSkool snowboard and ski instructor course is the very best it can be but weighing them up, they all have one stand-out quality: the accommodation for students of SnowSkool Big White is beyond luxury, Wanaka, the location of SnowSkool New Zealand is surely the coolest place on earth and with SnowSkool Three Valleys, it has to be the fact that you are living in the gateway to the world’s largest ski area.

With SnowSkool Banff, it is the après-ski!

Other ski towns aspire to be like Banff but nowhere does it better. It's not even that big...you can walk from one end of downtown Banff to the other in 20 minutes but it's the concentration of ‘cool’ in such a small area that makes Banff the worldwide tourist hotspot that it is. Banff caters for everyone. It has a huge array of pubs, bars and clubs to keep even the most sociable of you busy for the season. Whether you fancy catching up with Premiership football over a few beers in the Pump and Tap, competing in a pool tournament at the Rose and Crown or hitting up Wild Bill’s for a spot of line-dancing or a live band, Banff has it all.

Your SnowSkool reps will help organise your social life and we also tend to get pretty involved too...but who could resist some cheap drinks at Mel’s and then SnowSkool Guest List into one of the nightclubs – Hoodoo’s and Aurora’s are just round the corner?!!? The Banff Alpine Centre, where SnowSkool students live, also has its own pub: the Storm Cellar offering well-priced drinks, snacks and FREE pool, darts and table football. Friday night is Karaoke night and always proves popular after a long week of ski lessons!

Other Attractions

But it is not all about the bars, pubs and nightclubs, there is so much else going on in Banff. Every Friday night at nearby Mount Norquay, there is floodlit night-skiing. The freestyle park and a few slopes surrounding it are open and lit-up for those that feel that 25 hours of ski lessons or snowboard lessons is not enough in five days!

And in downtown Banff, there is a lot going on. The SnowSkool team will be constantly on hand to make sure that you make the most of your ski instructor course or snowboard instructor course. Whether we are organising a DVD night, a trip to the ice hockey, a football or basketball tournament at the sports centre, an ice climbing session, Bingo Bowling (!), a quiz night, a fancy dress party or a casino night, Banff has the facilities to entertain even the most quirkiest of pastimes. Work hard on the slopes and play hard off the slopes is the name of the game in Banff!

Many people ask about how much money they will require to sustain such a lively season-long experience in Banff. On past SnowSkool instructor training courses, we have polled the students as to how much “additional money” they have spent and the average weekly spend is about £90 per person per week. This will cover all aspects of your social life as well as lunches and all food at the weekend. It does vary though!
