Taking a Career Break to become
a Ski or Snowboard Instructor

Mark Twain once said:
"Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did."

Career Break?

When work becomes excessively-stressful, is it not justifiable to take some time out to reclaim your life? If you are looking to take a career break to de-stress from a hectic professional life, SnowSkool's ski and snowboard instructor training programmes are just the ticket! It is not just a case of looking for a long holiday or a break from responsibility but more a realisation that the life/ work balance has to be shifted more in the favour of life to promote long-term focus and productivity of the employee. And many institutions are recognising the value of career breaks for their employees.

"I was working in the City in a stressful position in IT. It was a friend who suggested I take a career break and once the seed was planted, it was all I could think about. The SnowSkool programme appealed to me and New Zealand in particular. I am now a fully-qualified snowboard instructor - which does not help me do my job better exactly but I am sure I returned refreshed and eager".

- Andrew Badger, 45, London.

Career Change?

The concept of choosing a lifelong career path in your late teens/ early twenties is a bizarre one and one that people are less inclined to stick to. In the past five years, SnowSkool has set many a ‘grown-up gapper’ on the path to a new career as a ski instructor or snowboard instructor. SnowSkool will not only give you the best possible chance of picking up your snowboard or ski instructor qualifications, but also our Instructor Recruitment Database will give you the best possible chance of finding work as a ski instructor or snowboard instructor.

"I have always been involved in sports: mostly jet-skiing and roller-skating, unfortunately opportunities to ski and snowboard in Queensland are not very common! I was working in a bank and hit 40 and started looking for a way out. I came across SnowSkool and decided to go for it - I got my level 1 and 2 ski instructor, my race coach and my park & pipe qualifications and now live for winter: Down here in Hotham between June and October and in Big White between November and April!"

- Trevor Gray, 41 (now), Queensland
